CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER
July 12, 2010
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 11:00 o’clock, Monday, July 12,
2010, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Grantham, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson, Bowles, and Brigham,
members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
ABSENT: Hons. Smith, Mason, and Hatney, members of Augusta Richmond County
Commission.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Copenhaver.
Mr. MacKenzie: We need a legal meeting to discuss matters of personnel and
pending and potential litigation.
Mr. Lockett: I so move we go into legal for that purpose.
Mr. Grantham: Second.
Mr. Johnson out.
Motion carries 6-0.
[LEGAL MEETING]
The Mayor called the meeting back to order.
Mr. Mayor: Mr. Attorney, I believe there are some add and approves.
Mr. MacKenzie: I would exercise a motion to add and approve two resolutions and
I’ll read the resolutions into the record. “Resolution authorizing the settlement of all
claims by Jake Felkel and Linda Felkel in the aggregate amount of $247,500; authorizing
the Administrator to disburse the amount and waiving Augusta Richmond County Code of
Ordinances in conflict for this instance only; and for other purposes.” The other resolution
is “a Resolution authorizing the settlement of all claims related to the real property of
Clifford Channell located at 215 Crawford Avenue in the aggregate amount of $45,000 and
authorizing the County Administrator to disburse this amount and waiving the Augusta
Richmond County Code of Ordinance for this instance only; and for other purposes” and I
would love to hear a motion to add and approve these two items.
Mr. Lockett: So move.
Mr. Grantham: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there is no further discussion,
commissioners will vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 7-0.
Motion to approve the execution of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open
Meeting Act.
Mr. Mayor: And, Mr. Attorney, I believe you need a motion . . .
Mr. MacKenzie: To execute the closed meeting affidavit.
The Clerk: We need to add it. It’s not even on the agenda. We need to add and approve
the closed door . . .
Mr. Mayor: Okay, can I get a motion to add and approve that?
Mr. Brigham: So move.
Mr. Lockett: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion,
commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 7-0.
Mr. Brigham: Lena, am I going to have a quorum today?
The Clerk: Don’t think so, Mr. Brigham.
Mr. Mayor: Well, if there’s no further business to come before the body for this meeting,
we stand adjourned.
