CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER – September 28, 2009
12:00 Noon
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, September
28, 2009, the Honorable Alvin Mason, Mayor Pro Tem, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Grantham, Hatney, Beard, Johnson, Jackson, Bowles and Brigham,
members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
ABSENT: Hons. Deke Copenhaver, Mayor; Smith and Holland, members of Augusta
Richmond County Commission.
The Mayor Pro Tem called the meeting to order.
The Invocation was given by Rev. Hatney.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America was recited.
1.Motion to approve the sale of property commonly known as 1068 Bertram Road to
Independent Living Horizons Twelve, Inc.
Mr. Russell: What you have before you is the closing of a deal between us and Walton
Rehab Hospital. Several months ago we signed a letter of intent as your authorization to allow
them to have some property on Bertram Road for a rehabilitation property that they’re going to
be using, it’s an independent living property there. That was approved at that point. HUD has
just recently granted them the money to do that and what we need to do is to have the motion to
close that particular deal. As a matter of record I did last week talk to several of you about that.
We have several other properties that we’re dealing with Walton Rehab with, one of which is at
Lyman and Dover that I thought was next in the queue that we’d be dealing with that.
Unfortunately I was wrong and this was the closing of the deal that we’d initiated several weeks
ago. The caption and the motion is available to you and I would ask that you’d approve that
motion.
Mr. Mayor Pro Tem: What’s your pleasure?
Mr. Grantham: So move.
Mr. Johnson: Second.
Mr. Mayor Pro Tem: We have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing
none, Commissioners will vote by the usual sign.
Mr. Bowles votes No.
Motion carries 7-1.
Mr. Russell: That’s all the business we have to cover for you today, sir.
Mr. Mayor Pro Tem: All right. With no further business before the Commission, we
stand adjourned.
