CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER – July 28, 2009
12:00 Noon
PRESENT: Hons. Deke Copenhaver, Mayor; Smith, Grantham, Hatney, Beard, Johnson,
Jackson, Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
ABSENT: Hons. Holland and Mason, members of Augusta Richmond County
Commission.
Mayor Copenhaver called the meeting to order.
The invocation was given by Dr. J. R. Hatney.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America was recited.
Mr. Mayor: I know we have some additions to our agenda. The agenda is very short, but
I would like to see if we could get a motion to add and approve the additions, items one, two and
three.
Addendum Agenda:
1. Resolution of condolences for Richmond County School Board Trustee Joe
Scott. (Requested by Commissioner Holland)
2.Resolution of condolences for Augusta native Vernon Forrest. (Requested by
Commissioner Holland)
3.Resolution of support for the J. B. Powell Invitational Little League Baseball
Tournament. (Requested by Commissioner Brigham)
Ms. Beard: So move.
Mr. Jackson: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual
sign.
Motion carries 8-0.
Mr. Russell: Mr. Mayor and members of the Commission, two weeks ago you authorized
the advertisement of the proposed millage rate for this current year. That rate’s in front of you
now. There are no changes in the rate from what we advertised and it would be appropriate to
adopt that rate as stated on the little sheet in front of you. That I haven’t passed out yet. Several
weeks ago you authorized the advertisement of the proposed millage rate. That millage rate was
. It would be appropriate now to do the formal adoption of that
advertised appropriately
millage rate as noted on the schedule in front of you.
Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect?
Ms. Beard: So move.
Mr. Hatney: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion,
commissioners will now vote by the usual sign.
Motion carries 8-0.
Mr. Russell: Thank you, Mr. Mayor. That’s all I have.
Mr. Mayor: With no further business to come before the body, we stand adjourned.
