CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER
May 11, 2006
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:14 p.m., Thursday, May 11,
2006, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Brigham, Grantham, Smith, Bowles, Brown, Hatney, Holland and
Beard, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
ABSENT: Hons. Cheek and Williams, members of Augusta Richmond County
Commission.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Copenhaver.

Mr. Grantham: So move.
Mr. Holland: Second.
Motion carries 8-0.
[LEGAL MEETING]
At the close of the legal meeting, the meeting was called back to order by Mayor
Copenhaver.
Motion to approve the Closed Meeting Affidavit.
Mr. Hatney: So move.
Ms. Beard: Second.
Motion carries 8-0.
Mr. Shepard: I would ask for a motion to add and approve a resolution to
authorize the acquisition of the following properties by purchase for the Judicial Center:
$16,000 for the property of Charles Walker, $200,000 for the property of Austin Ironworks
with their right to occupy the property until the end of the year, and $820,000 for the
property of Augusta Neighborhood Improvement Corporation.
Mr. Hatney: So move.
Mr. Grantham: Second.
Motion carries 8-0.
Mr. Shepard: I’d also ask that Item A (Consider/approve negotiated settlement of
Augusta Estates, et al vs. Augusta, et al.) be approved by the attorney executing the
necessary documents to increase the amount realized out of the escrow to $41,000 to apply
towards the tax accounts first and then the solid waste accounts next and that the penalties
and interest in those accounts be waived leaving a balance in the escrow account to go to
the plaintiffs in the settlement of the case.
Mr. Hatney: So move.
Mr. Grantham: Second.
Motion carries 8-0.
